Fish, jug and fruit, a glass of water filled to the brim and the newspaper are arranged on an imaginary table whose wrinkling bright table cloth can be seen at the upper rim. The cast shadow of the jug and a dark space at the lower rim at the right form a strong contrast to the well lit composition of the mundane items on the table. The glass filled with water painted transparently is especially appealing.
