The “Machine Making a Noise” has also been called “Butterfly Machine Flapping its Wings”. It was presented in the “Great Art Exhibition” (“Große Kunstausstellung”) in Munich in 1984. The flapping and turning metal parts seem to make a din. Wheels rotate faster than the human eye can perceive. Everything is moving. Strokes of color, shaded red and blue against warm ocher and brown reinforce the rush of the machine for the perception of the spectator. A masterful statical rendition of speed.
