The idea of a butterfly flapping its wings was incorporated by Friedrich Neubauer more than thirty years ago and implemented creatively. The butterfly seems to move in an abstract world. The red-blue wings are spread against a grey sky interspersed with dark clouds. Undulated and circular figures streak a red-brown surface. The wings are reinforced with screws and metal fittings. Does the artist anticipate the future development of robots which are to be created as copies of insects by humans?
