The sunflower giving the picture its caption is standing in front of a mainly rose-colored curtain. The plant itself is held by a glass bottle artfully reflecting the light whose transparency is plastically reflected. An earthenware larder pot in the foreground conveys the impression of the solidity of the depicted objects. The lovely radiant yellow flower with the lush green of its leaves is placed next to a dead flower almost merging with the curtain. The dark background gives the picture a new deep dimension. A picture resting in itself.
